Best Mexican Food in National City

Such delicious tacos! The service was quick, friendly, and great. I had the al vapor tacos,bean and cheese taco and a jamaica. Both tacos were delicious. The tortillas and the meat were soft and flavorful. The jamaica was so refreshing. I will definitely be coming back.

I liked the homey feel of the restaurant. It's colorful and has some nice pictures of their original location in Tijuana. The chips are casero-style, not stale. We keep coming back and trying new items. The whole family had breakfast on Sunday and everyone enjoyed. Menudo rojo and blanco on the weekend. Caldo de res was great We had chilaquiles, sopes, machaca and more. Of course, the steam tacos are the best. Highly recommended for parties, order a tray

La Especial is truly a National City gem. Original location was established on July 17th 1952, on Avenida Revolución - Tijuana. What nice childhood memories..... This is a must have taco place. They originate from T.J. on Revolucion street. I have been eating these tacos as a kid for years and would only get to enjoy them when we would cross the border. Now thankfully they are here to enjoy in National City. They have a variety of things but my go to will always be the Tacos Al Vapor!
